FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(FAQ)
- 'How
much will it cost me exactly ?.
Let's say that you want to order the
first option at £20.
1. You pay us.
2. You send us your information via e-mail or post,
3. Within two weeks you have your web site on the web.
It can sometimes take less than 24 hours, if we are not too busy. We
will always do the job ASAP.
After that, we do not want to hear from you anymore... unless you wish
to upgrade... or
if you are not happy and require a number of corrections
to the web page that you have just ordered.
You do not have to send me additional 'small monthly payments' or anything
like that.
In other words:
You place a specific order. We do it because you paid me for
it. You are happy. Full Stop.
If you want to add two Mp3s the month after, we do (2) & (3) again.
YOu have NO string attached to us.
- 'I want to
know exactly how much it will cost me... Where can I find today's
exchange rate for the currency of my own country?'
Go
here.
- 'What
are my different payment options?'
You can use your credit card, do a wire bank transfer, send a cheque
(not recommanded if not in the UK), or use postal money Order. Credit
or debit card payment will cost you the less charges. Unless your bank
is in the UK, in whioh case a cheque is free of any charge.
If you live (or have a bank account
in) the UK, you can mail us a cheque or send us a postal order.
If you live (or your bank is) outside the UK, the best is for you to
place your order on line. For our online transactions we
use the services of a company called 'Verza', which has been established
since 1998.
Verza allows everybody to pay and accept payments over the Internet.
You can purchase our products
with your credit card or by deducting from your chequing (bank) account.
To Pay using Verza,
go to our 'DETAILED ROUTE' ORDER PAGE, or
our 'FAST ROUTE' ORDER PAGE.
Be aware that you pay 8% processing charge when dealing on line (and
Verza is the cheapest we have found). So, if you are in the UK, a cheque
will save you 8%. You can use the following cards:

- 'Is it secure
to pay on line with my credit card ?'
Millions of $ are being paid on line all over the world each and every
day.
Verza
is approved by 'BBBOnline': 'BBBOnLine
Reliability Participation Confirmed For Verza Inc. Participant through
6/30/01 Verza Inc. meets all BBBOnLine Reliability participation and
Better Business Bureau membership standards'.(BBBOnline).
Click on the BBBOnline logo if you want to confirm this.
See Verza privacy statement here.
- 'How will
you know when I have placed my order on line ?'
This is how it works - the following is from Verza :
'Once a customer buys a product from your website, you will receive
an e-mail notification of the sale.
You can then log into Verza to fulfil the transaction.'
Always send us the details of your order - we need to know what you
want us to build for you exactly.
In the very doubtful case where you do not hear from us after 48 hours
following your order, e-mail
us directly.
- 'Can I do
a bank transfer ?'
Yes. Simply e-mail your order to us and we will send you our
bank details and 'Swift' number.
You may use Verza as well (See our PRICING
PAGE or on our ORDER PAGE.)
You can use it also from the UK. If you encounter any difficulty doing
a bank transfer through verza, simply call or E-mail us we will handle
it directly from bank to bank.
- 'f I pay in
US $ how will I know that your exchange rate is up to date ?'
Conversion in US $ is as per the
oanda.com converter and updated once a month.
The quote in US$ at the time you access this site is what you pay at
that time, no matter
the fluctuation in the exchange rates ~ since we have made the conversion
according to the above and which in placing your order you have shown
your agreement.
We will fine tune this in the near future.
This is still the cheapest deal around the world wide web.
- 'Can I order
a web site for my band?'
Yes. See an example here
and here
Band web sites are more complicated than musician's web pages. There
is more work involved,
so e-mail your
particular requirements to us..
- 'Why are you
so cheap?'
I am a musician & founder of Musician Site. Music is my
main activity but I love everything
connected to the Internet and the web, and let's say that I am sometimes
angry to see friends
who are wonderful artistes having difficulty paying their bills at the
end of the month.
I find it's unfair. I believe that governments should protect their
artistes, and make
them exempt from paying taxes as well as freedom of expression; that
artistes are
invaluable and extremely special individuals in all societies across
the planet.
Well... you asked me why so I tell you why I am doing this. I know that
without
a presence on the web, an artiste will have a hard time in the future.
I hope that this site will help break the vicious circle.
- 'When will
my web page be ready ?'
We will build your web page within 2 week after your payment is effective
- often it will be
finished within a couple of days, depending on the traffic.
- 'What if I am not
happy with your finished product?'
E-mail us immediately. We will submit your page for
your approval, and will
correct it at your request. Once you have confirmed that you are totally
happy with it, the sale is finalised.
We would be penalised by Verza, if customers complain:
' Verza captures customer satisfaction responses three days after
a
transaction has been completed. Verza enables your customers to pay
for your services online, and charges a per transaction fee, depending
on the quality of the services you deliver. ' (Verza)
In other words, if our clients are unhappy, Verza will increase the
transaction
fee that we have to pay them.
- 'Can I upgrade
with more photos, music files, more pages, a photo gallery etc.'
Yes. All details are here.
- 'But I have
heard that a web site must be 'maintained' to be efficient....'
Yes indeed. So, you maintain it. It is not complicated. In an
hour, you can submit
your page to loads of search engines & other places which are supposed
to bring
you customers - and so they do-.
I will give you some hints on how to do that for free, and I
will give you these hints for free.
If you have a web site, here is a gift for you! (Click
Here)
- 'Oh lala...
Can't you maintain my web site for me ???'
Yes, but I would do it 'to order'. If you want me to submit
your page, I will charge you £20
per hour. But frankly you can do it yourself, even in a cyber cafe.
The cheapest price
that we have found on the web, was 635% more expensive that our fee
of £20 an hour
for this service. Details.
- 'Will I have
animation, little butterflies that follow the cursor of my mouse when
I
move it, windows that pop out with starlets dancing the oohagoolele
?
Will my web page make coffee and broadcast Sky One?'
Nope. You don't want all that anyway. It takes time to download,
and people who are able
to give you work are more likely to be the busy ones.
They want to see you, hear your playing or singing, be
able to e-mail you to ask
for your demo, and read what you have to say about you in the
shortest time possible.
Please read 'Is It Cost Effective'
- 'Who owns
my web page ?'
You 'hire it for life' and it will cost you only what we charge
you. No one else can 'own'
your page other than you ~ since it has your photo and your text and
you have paid for it.
But the design, format and idea belong to Musician Site and are
copyrighted.
Your text is your own copyright. Except for this, your photos and music
files, the page itself
belongs to Musician Site
See the following question.
- 'What are
your restrictions ?'
We have no restrictions, except that you are not supposed to use your
web pages for
selling or promoting porn, violence, anti-religious or racist oriented
messages or sites.
We reserve the right to refuse any order if we so wish.
You cannot put any banner on your site which would advertise products
mentioned above.
- 'What is the
Catch?'
I only request 2 things (1) There are 2 small links to 'Musicians
Site' in your web site ,
so you give others a chance to benefit from the same opportunity, and
(2) Under no
circumstances are you allowed to alter, modify or duplicate the site
for yourself
or others . My work is copyrighted. Any future updates to your web
site can only be done
by Musician Site, the cost of these updates being charged at the prices
in effect at the date
of your new order.
I ask you to inform me of the address that you will chose for your web
site so that I add it
to my list of products.
I can offer a link to it from Musician Site web site as part of my references
for new customers,
unless you ask me not to.
In which case, I won't mention your site. But it would publicity for
you too...
There is NOTHING else to which you are bound.
- 'How many
gigs will I get from my web site?'
No idea. It depends on the information that you will send me and of
the frequency and
quality of the submissions to the search engines. I will do my best
to add the correct
keywords, titles, descriptions to your page so that people can find
you as easily as
possible when looking for what you do.
We will attempt to gather statistics from our members on a regular basis.
- 'What does
it mean, 'keyword', 'title', 'browser', 'description', web space', 'hosting'?
'Titles' are the words that appear in the small blue bar at the
very top of your browser
when you are looking at a web page. You use a browser to 'surf'
the web.
It is the program that you are using at this moment.
The title is what you can read in the blue bar at the top of your screen.
It says 'Cheap web page builder for musicians
and artistes. Frequently asked questions
about Musician Site' - See?
'Description' are the text which describe your web page. Search
engines will use this
description to describe briefly what your page is about to the
'surfers' (people like you
and me). Search engines look for the answers to the questions asked
by the surfers,
and come up with thousands of answers - web pages, web sites -.
For each, they give the title and description of the page
( mind that, they sometimes
use the content of your page as 'description' too).
These are the answers that people can read; the answers offered by the
search engine.
It finds thousands or millions of answers and list them, giving the
title and description
of the web pages that it found.
'Keywords' are words or a combination of words that people type
in the search window
of a search engine.
Like 'singer', or 'singer in Manchester' or 'black female jazz singer
available in Bangkok'.
In this case, if your title says ' Joan Pateby' (name) and your
description says
' Fabulous North Slobovian Feel'... you see what I mean... (If not get
lost!).
To help search engines to find you, you must have keywords in
your web page.
These keywords are not viewable, they are hidden.
I offer you 20 keywords with your first page, but you can have
much more.
- 'What is this
'ranking' stuff and this
'html' thing ???'
Are you the first web page offered by the search engine or the
87th one ? This is your
ranking.
Go to www.google.com and type 'singer'. See how many answers it finds...
fascinating!
(to day it found 'about' 2 500 000...). So you MUST have a good title,
description and
hidden keywords.
If you have Internet Explorer as a browser, click on 'View', then 'Source'.
A window will open with text and symbols on it.
This is how to see the 'hidden' keywords of the page you are looking
at, if you fancy it.
What you see is called 'html'. Just a sort of international language
used in this
Internet business.
- 'What are your responsibilities?'
You are fully responsible for the content of your
page and I can refuse your order if
I so wish. But you are still the only one responsible for the information
you give me
and the quality of the photos and music files.
My responsibilities are to give you what I promised on receiving
and accepting
your order, which is a web page or web site identical or similar to
our samples.
This includes the specifications mentioned on these samples.
I am not responsible for the usage of your web site by yourself or anyone
else, the number
of visitors to your web site, any Internet interruption, delay or sluggishness
of access
from any ISP that you will use or web space provider that you will use,
whether they
have been advised by me or you have chosen them yourself. And I am not
responsible for anything that happens to your web page or web site after
I have
delivered it/them to you, whether by putting it on the web at your request
or sending it
to you via e-mail or disk.
- 'What are my responsibilities?'
You take entire responsibility regarding the usage of your web page
or web site by you
or anyone else. I would appreciate that you inform me of the address
of your web site
and any change of address in the future, but you do not have to, and
you agree with
each point in the FAQ 18 above. If you encounter any loss in reputation
or finances
related to your web site, you, in no circumstance would consider Musician
Site
or its staff or members responsible, nor would you attempt a court action
against them.
And prior to anything else, make sure that your site is well maintained.
We are at your service for future updates.
